What is a Mastic

Thicker. Tougher. Engineered for immersion.

A mastic is a thick, high-solids epoxy coating specifically formulated to withstand immersion without blistering, disbonding or chemical degradation. The term refers to its consistency — thicker than regular epoxy, easier to apply to rough surfaces, and more forgiving of surface preparation.

For tanks storing water, fuels or chemicals, an immersion coating is essential. It prevents corrosion from the inside, stops chemical attack, and resists the osmotic pressure that causes standard coatings to fail.

How Mastics Protect

Barrier protection blocks moisture and chemicals from reaching steel. Chemical resistance handles acids, alkalis, oils and process chemicals. Adhesion holds even on damp, poorly blasted surfaces. And osmotic-pressure defence prevents the blistering that destroys lesser coatings.

FAQ

Specifying your tank lining.

Not for long-term protection. Standard epoxies aren't formulated for immersion — they blister, absorb water and fail under the osmotic pressure inside tanks. Immersion mastics are specifically engineered for constant water contact. The cost difference is small compared to recoating in 2–3 years.
